About

I am a student that loves Physics and Biology. My favourite food is the Hainanese boneless chicken rice and satay. I have great passion for music and am a guitarist for my church’s youth band. I listen to a wide genre of music including rock, punk rock, contemporary, jazz and funk. My dream is to be able to a professional lead guitarist in a 5man band. Being a musician in a band setting allows me to develop skills like listening, having more self-control and a sense of discipline to practice. I feel that I am very fortunate to be able to be part of this program as this is the first YOG and it is being held in Singapore.

A deep surge of melancholy engulfed my soul as we watched the Korean SMEs walk though the gates of the departure hall. This has been the fastest 2 weeks that i have had in my entire 15years on this planet... it seems like yesterday when we first met the Korean SMEs. Just looking back at those wonderful moments that we had together just makes me wanna cry. I just wanna thank the Korean SMEs for such a wonderful time that they have given to me during this YOG period(: thankyou guys(:

Table Tennis!

The table tennis match today was so awesome! there the indoor stadium was filled with Singaporean supporters. There were lots of screaming when the Singaporean players stepped into the "field of play". There were lots of primary school students there to support our Singaporean players! The supporters were so FULL of ENERGY!

These are a few pictures of the supporters!

Interview session- Korean SME

Well hi guys! the title states it all, i interviewed Kang Nahee from Korea. She was raised and is still living in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. She has a couple of sisters.

How was she chosen to be part of the Korean team:
Basically, each of the Korean SMEs have to submit a written application to the head office. Then 30 of them were selected for the next round. The 30 of them has to each do a powerpoint presentation offline and they will be judged. The theme of the presentation is what her dream is and how is she going to live out her dream! She was one of the 12 that made it through!

Hobbies:

Nahee loves texting her friends, checking out videos on Youtube and reading manga online! She also loves Japanese dramas and soap operas.

Aspirations:

She wants to be a person that can change a world just like how the creator of facebook did! She also said that a tiny idea can spark off an innovative idea!

Social Media:

Each and everyone in Nahee's school own's a laptop! She says that everyone spends more time online than offline! wow!

Device that she cannot live without:

Nahee cannot live without her mobile phone. She needs her phone for communications (her first hobby is texting friends). She becomes nervous and depressed when her mobile phone runs out of battery! Apparently, most people in Seoul appear to feel that way too! They have charging points on trains and even buses!!

Impressions on Singapore:

The first thing that caught her attention is that even though Singapore is quite a developed country, she is amazed that we have trees EVERYWHERE. She is also quite surprised that we have a nature reserve!

Favourite FOOD:

LAKSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something that she will bring back to Korea:

She will remember Singapore for her hot weather and DURIANS! Even though she know about durians for a couple of years, this is the first time that she tasted a REAL durian! She will also remember the Singapore SMEs (awwwww...).

This is Nahee(:

taekwondo,

Taekwondo (태권도跆拳道Korean pronunciation: [tʰɛkwʌndo])[a] is a Korean martial art and thenational sport of South Korea. In Koreantae (태, ) means "to strike or break with foot"; kwon(권, ) means "to strike or break with fist"; and do (도, ) means "way," "method," or "art." Thus, taekwondo may be loosely translated as "the way of the foot and fist" or "the way of kicking and punching." (taken from wikipedia)

Celeb @ Marina Bay

For the past couple of weeks i have been wondering who on earth Nicholas Zhang Dong Liang is... the ans to the question that has been bugging me for 2 weeks has finally been revealed! i watched his performance and i think it's quite good!

just approx. 8 hours ago, i met my friends at the ntuc building to go to the marina boulevard for Nicholas' performance! though his performance only started at about 9pm, we were there to look for seats and watch the performances that were arranged by samsung be nicholas. little did we expect, it started raining... as we dont really want to be drenched, we decided to seek refuge in a sheltered area and find something to do. as most of as havent had our dinner, we decided to go to "lau pa sat" for our dinner. i had a plate of chicken rice and some fried oyster that i did not finish as it was stale.

right after dinner we decided to head back to the marina boulevard for Nicholas' performance. For those that doesn't know, Nicholas is a chinese singer/songwriter from Malaysia. There was quite a number of people(mostly fans) even though it was raining throughout the event. I did not manage to get alot of photos because of the rain and those that i got was pretty blur..): if only the whether decided to be a little bit nicer to me): anyway i enjoyed my self and i am really sure my friends did as well... alrights thats all for now good night peeps!

YOG YOV CEP

WOOHOO the YOV is a super fun place to be in! The first thing i noticed when we entered are the cute little children dressed as red indians(most probably to welcome people to the YOV) as we continue walking in, what ccaught my eyes were the 205 flags from all the different nations participating in the YOG. There were countless numbers of booths that were set-up to help us to understand the culture of different people from all around the world! The CEP came in different ways be it through games or just the display of the artifacts from their hometown. The display of those items is really an opener for me as i did not know that many of these things even existed! As i toured the area, i began to learn more about other people's culture and more about their countries! After a couple of hours of walking around, we went for the 'chatting' session with the 3 champions. Though the talk was a little bit boring, i learnt more about those athletes and what they thought the olympic was. i also learnt that those athletes DO meet certain circumstances in their lives that requires the support of many! This visit to the YOV has been really helpful and have helped me to understand people's culture!

alright then so long for now!

MY FIRST POST!

WOOHOO it indeed is a brand new day AND definitely a BRAND NEW STORY! as the days and week goes by, i would be "appearing" here more often to post about what i had done during the day and how i feel(:

yesterday, the 10th of august 2010, i was in school to support the torch bearers (say YAY) haha. it was quite amazing as the entire atmosphere was so hyped up you could barely hear yourself speak! it all started at 5pm where we had some fun in school with the camp leaders at their booths welcoming people to play the games that they prepared. after those fun and games, we proceeded to the area where we were expecting our torch bearers to pass by. it was quite a long but interesting wait before the buses started appearing as people were so hyped up that they were cheering almost ANYTHING that went past us on the road! could you imagine you're driving and someone starts waving at you and screaming at the top of their lungs? haha. as the first torch bearer came into sight, EVERYONE started SCREAMING and CHEERING! it was so AWESOME!!! the best part about this is, amidst all the screaming and cheering, people from the coke van got off and started distributing FREE COKE(say yay again hahaha)!!! as the torch bearers ran past us, we started following him towards the next torch bearer. it really was an exciting experience. the event ended with the camp leaders following the torch all the way to temasek poly as we all took our leave. well, all i have left to say(or at least for now,) is that YOG IS AWESOME!!!

this is kirk signing off!
